Life Lately

Well 2017 is just cruising right along, isn't it?  Work promises to be crazy this week.  I anticipate an uptick in the phone traffic in our international admissions office.  Politics aside, I will have some very concerned students who will have questions about their status and I unfortunately do not have a lot of answers.  Couple that with a very heavy week of meetings and I am counting down the days until my meeting in Florida in a couple of weeks.  Before I jump too far ahead though, let's catch up on what we've been up to around here lately.

I am on book 5 of my 50 book challenge.  My reading took a hit late in the week as I had a dental procedure done and just could not focus enough to concentrate on reading.

However, this book is good.  It's a biography of Vivien Leigh and I find it fascinating.

Tuesday I was at a meeting all day about the National Student Clearinghouse.  Part of my job is overseeing student records and the clearinghouse is just that - it'sa clearinghouse of student records regarding enrollment and graduation.  The all day meeting was about what they are currently up to and new projects they have in the works.  #stayinformed

Casual office day - I had no meetings, so I was able to dress casually for the day.  I loved the look of the red gingham button down under the blue sweater.  Super cute and paired really well with my favorite kut from the kloth Catherine jeans and my grey booties.

We were good on the running last week.  We made it to the gym Tuesday and Thursday, woohoo!  #goals #wehadbeenstruggling

Here's to hoping we can do it again this week.

This was Thursday morning.  It was feeling like a statement necklace kind of day so I pulled out my Stella & Dot Sutton necklace and built my outfit around that.  It was a half day for me as I had a dentist appointment in the afternoon and since I was going to be sedated I changed into comfy cozy clothes as soon as I got home from work.

Thursday night I was a little groggy from the anesthesia and I'm a little hazy on the details of the episode, but I was committed to watching Top Chef.  I crashed pretty hard after it finished though.

And Friday it was a soft foods kind of day.  I was super sad about these mashed potatoes too.  I had a lunch meeting scheduled and had originally ordered a salad with grilled chicken, dried cranberries, walnuts, blue cheese, apples, grapes, and balsamic vinaigrette.  And I couldn't eat a bite.  #insertsadfacehere

Saturday morning we were up and at 'em to run the Hypnotic Donut 5K at Fair Park in Dallas.  Race shirts can be hit or miss, but I liked this one.  It was softer than I expected it was going to be.

The weather on Saturday morning was perfect.  In the low 40s with a breeze.  I thought it was perfect at least.  Phillip thought it was on the chilly side as evidenced by all the layers he had on.

The race was at Fair Park, which is where the Cotton Bowl is and where the Texas State Fair takes place.  It was a pretty flat course and took place entirely inside the park.  It was fun and they had donut holes at all the water stops (we did not partake).

So pretty!  #nofilter

And...I won!  It was a photo finish practically, but a win is a win and I'll take it!

I have been wanting these kate spade abalone studs for awhile now.  And they are finally mine!  Love them!  They look good with anything - dressed up, dressed down, a great earring for every day wear.

Sunday morning face time date with the little miss!  She was in a bit of a silly mood this morning.  Love her so much!

I had not been to mass in far too long, it was good to go back.  And a good Sunday too.  This Sunday's gospel was on the Beatitudes.  Blessed are the peacemakers, etc.  It was a good time to be reminded.

I have spent a long time finding a church that I liked.  I loved my hometown church growing up and Good Shepherd Catholic Community is the closest I've been able to come to the church I went to growing up in Rhode Island.  The building itself is a little more modern than I'm used to in a church, but as a whole, I really like it.

Sunday lunch around here tends to be grab and go, basically find whatever you want and make it work.  I stopped at Trader Joe's on the way home from church and picked up some pumpernickel pretzel sticks and wine country chicken salad.  A delicious little plate for very few Weight Watchers points (I think it ended up being 5 points total).

That's what we've been up to lately, what about you?  See you back here on Wednesday!
