Life Lately

Hello Everyone!  Welcome Back!  Thank you all for understanding that I needed to take last week off and spend time with my parents while they were in town.  We had a wonderful time exploring Dallas.  Fasten your seatbelts for a longer than usual Life Lately - I've got a lot to recap.

The weather here has been CRAZY.  Cold and hot and not really anything in between.  For my last week of work before Spring Break it was a lot of layered outfits.  Dresses and sweaters mainly.  I love this dress.  It's from LOFT a few years ago, but their spring dresses are second to none.  I found a similar one that I've linked to.

I pulled out of our parking garage one day the week before Spring Break to find this!  I don't know who did it, but I'm sure it brightened many people's mornings.  I know it brightened mine.

Another day, another sweater/dress combo.  Isn't the necklace gorgeous?  I love the blues and it's a 2 in 1, so you can remove the bottom piece and just wear the the top, just wear the bottom, or wear them all together.  So, really, a 3 in 1!

Pardon the dazed expression - it was early.  I got a few barre classes in but not as many as I would have liked due to some work commitments.  But I did get some in and I am now 6 classes away from my 100!  I am so close!

Alert!  Delicious Coffee Ahoy!  Both Phillip and I are addicted to the Pecan Praline flavored coffee from Community Coffee.  So so good - especially with a splash of vanilla creamer.  Coffee perfection.

I took advantage of the gorgeous weather we were having and walked around the lake.  We're looking at buying a house, so I am trying to take advantage of it as much as I can.

I was walking to my office and looked out the window and noticed these guys.  Add this to the list of jobs I would never want to have.  Also on the list - roofer, paver, and landscaper.

This one likes to curl up with a good book.  I finished Hillbilly Elegy in under a week and have moved on to book #9.

Book #9 is All the Missing Girls and it is a page turner.  If you like thrillers, check this one out.

I recently tried the dipping powder when I went for a manicure and I LOVE it.  I don't get a manicure too often, mainly just pedicures and I do my own nails.  I definitely like this better than the gel nails.

I had a work function the two days before my parents arrived.  I knew we were going to be eating all the things while they were in town so I opted for the healthy stuff at breakfast.

When my parents arrived, we started off right away with one of the major Texas food groups - barbecue.  We went to Babb Bros. at Trinity Groves and it was delicious.  They have live music on Saturday nights and it is most definitely worth checking out.

On Sunday, we sampled another of the major Texas food groups - fried chicken.  This was courtesy of Babe's Chicken.  Phillip's parents met us there and we had a wonderful Sunday lunch.  It warms my heart that his parents and my parents get along and like each other!

On Monday, we went into Dallas and saw Dealey plaza and did a tour of the city.  This was followed by a stop at Reunion Tower to take in the cityscape.  It was fun to learn about this city that I love so much and have called home since 2010.  I definitely recommend the 80 minute trolley tour.  We used Big D Fun Tours.

On Monday night, we added the third major Texas food group to our rotation - steak.  We had dinner at Pappas Bros. and as usual, it did not disappoint.  I am not a steak person, so I had the wedge salad and then lobster bisque for my meal.  It was so delicious.

And then we ordered dessert.  #swoon.  Do you see how tall that cheesecake is???  And the turtle pie was scrumptious.

Tuesday night was their last night in Texas and we ended on a high note.  We had dinner at one of our local favorites - The Ranch and capped off a delicious dinner with red velvet hand pies.  Oh. My. Stars.  It was like homemade red velvet toaster strudel.  It was a great way to cap off my parents' visit to Dallas.

After they left, I got in a nap and some snuggles with this guy.

Speaking of, this guy turned 12 this past week.  My grumpy cat is a grumpy old cat.  He likes to do his thing and be left alone.  Except when he wants to snuggle.  Everything on his own time.  Always.

On Thursday I had some errands to take care of wanted to be casual and comfy, but cute.  That means it was time to break out the Saturday pants from J. Crew.  I took care of some wedding business and also snuck in a facial.  Sigh.  So relaxing!

I also knew I was going to be hanging out with this sweet lovebug for a bit and wanted to be comfy.  Isn't she the sweetest thing???  Her name is Leia and I just adore her.

We had a dinner to go to Friday night.  I love the print on this dress from Banana republic and the gold jewelry accented it nicely.  And I love this foldover clutch and at $25 it is a great deal.

We were off to Al Biernat's to celebrate an important occasion.

We were there to celebrate Phillip's parents' 40th wedding anniversary.  We had a lovely evening with family and enjoyed a delicious meal.  Almost everyone ordered steak, but as we have already established I don't eat steak.  I went for the lobster risotto and was not disappointed.  I will also recommend the warm goat cheese salad with sun dried tomato vinaigrette.  But the food paled in comparison to the company.

And that was spring break and a peek into what we've been up to lately.  I feel like all we've been doing is eating - ha!  Have a great week y'all and I'll be back tomorrow with a Stella & Dot review.
