Hey y'all! Happy Monday - hopefully your week is off to a good start. We've been crazy busy around here the last couple of weeks, and add to that the blog redesign and it's been a little bit since we've done a life lately post. There's just so much going on at work, with the wedding, and with the house, that we can hardly catch our breath sometimes. Here's what we've been up to lately...
I occasionally peruse the sale section of J. Crew and J. Crew Factory. I did a few weeks ago and I'm glad I did. I was in dire need of a new pair of brown sandals as the pair that I bought at Target 10 years ago finally bit the dust. Let me tell you, I got my money's worth and then some out of that $19 pair of sandals, but that also meant I needed to find a replacement. I love that these have the cute perforation and the short little block heel. I've worn them with shorts and dresses - perfect to dress up or down. You can also find similar options here, here, and here.
Does anyone else immediately change out of their work clothes and into pajamas or lounge clothes when they get home? I can't wait to get into comfy, cozy clothes as soon as I get in the door.
Kate LOVES these catnip bananas. The ones we had were old so the last time I ordered from amazon I threw a new set in my cart and she has been in kitty heaven ever since.
We met with the contractor last Wednesday since all the inspections were done with the city. Yay! And we got some very excellent news. Instead of being done in December, we are on pace to be finished in November. Y'all. I can't even tell you how excited I am about moving into our new house.
I've been getting back into my normal barre schedule, thank goodness. And I am super excited about the new class, Empower, that starts this week. It's a platform class and my first taste of it is Wednesday morning. I cannot wait!
I find any excuse I can to wear this dress and plan to for the rest of the summer. I love the green color and the pretty detailing. It has been a great dress for work - dressy enough for summer days at the office, but also easy enough to wear for date night.
This one looks for any opportunity to drink the leftover milk from cereal. Be forewarned if you visit us!
I was a few minutes early for a meeting and was able to take a moment and enjoy the view! The back of the building I work in looks out over Panther Island in Fort Worth. Unfortunately, I have an interior office, so no window for me. I always appreciate the view when I can get it.
Last weekend I was at the bookstore buying birthday presents for Jackson and Lila and stumbled across this. Um, yes please. I will never say no to a book about Russia, especially Imperial Russia.
Have you all tried these yet??? They are so good. 0 smart points and they have a kick. Oh but they are good. Especially when you are looking for something salty and crunchy.
Last week I did an Instastory about what I pack in my lunch. Here is a picture from that day. For the first time in a long time I tracked everything last week - and I lost close to a pound. I plan to do the same this week and I am hoping for the same result! It's time to get that scale moving in the other direction.
I am constantly on the lookout for a great moisturizer or a great foundation. And I hate foundation. It is rare that I find foundation I love, I just hate how it feels on my skin. I tried this tinted moisturizer from Ever Skincare this past week and I LOVE it. It gives my skin a nice healthy glow and just a bit of coverage. And it has SPF 32. I am looking forward to bringing this to Hawaii so I can wear this and nothing else. Except mascara and lipstick, of course.
I finished Madam President and moved on to Babyland. I'm enjoying it so far. I can't give a great review as I am only a few chapters in. It takes place in Boston so, for now, it has that going for it.
I went to Ikea on Saturday to pick up new plastic containers for the kitchen and found this. And I want it for my office in the new house. My office doesn't have a closet, so I'm thinking those drawers built in to the shelf will come in handy.
Lela top | Taj clutch | Gwen ring | jeans
Saturday night we went out for dinner at the restaurant where we will be having our rehearsal dinner and it was the perfect time to take my new Stella & Dot Lela top out for a test drive. I love it. It is so well made, and the embroidery is perfection. The blue design just pops against the ivory. I found that it ran true to size. I paired it with my Gwen ring, Taj clutch, and Arabesque chandeliers and necklace.
The food at Via Real was excellent. We've eaten there before, but wanted to go again to make sure that it was as good as we remembered before we have the rehearsal dinner there. I had the blue cheese and corn salad. It's on their salad menu, but I asked them to add grilled chicken so I could have it as my meal and they were happy to oblige.
After dinner we came home to play cards (I won), have a glass of wine, watch the Cowboys a bit, and browse the Ikea catalog. It was a nice, quiet Saturday.
Sunday was for the usual - groceries, cleaning the house, baking, and laundry. I made my favorite chocolate chip cookie recipe - Alton Brown's The Thin. Hands down the best recipe if you like a crispier cookie.
There were a few measurements we wanted to take - windows and such - so we drove by the house and were pleased to see that they finished hanging all the drywall! They should finish texturing this week as well as begin bricking the exterior. I can't wait to see what it looks like next weekend.
It's a crazy week at work this week, we've got a consultant in and there's a Board of Trustees meeting on Thursday. We are halfway through August and the semester starts soon. Lots to do! Make it a great week y'all!
