I feel like I say this every month, but how is the month almost over already? July has moved way too fast! I have missed the last couple of What's Up Wednesday posts due to summer travel, but I am here for this one! Here's a peek back at July with the Fishers.
What We're Eating This Week
Monday - Veggie Burrito Bowls (one of our all time favorites)
Tuesday - Salad
Wednesday - Fish and roasted cauliflower
Thursday - Chicken with couscous and roasted asparagus
Friday - Whole wheat penne with turkey meatballs
Saturday - Dinner at Trufire
Sunday - Some type of crockpot/casserole meal
What I'm Reminiscing About
I am reminiscing about this fun weekend back home a few weeks ago. It was so nice to hang out with my niece and the rest of my family.
What I'm Loving
I am LOVING my new Essential Hammered Hoops. These are now in permanent rotation. I love the size, how thin they are, they are great for work or for play.
I also have been loving wearing my hair curly lately. I go in phases. Sometimes I try to pretend my hair isn't curly, but then there are times when I embrace. I'm currently in an embrace period. To get my curls to behave, I use the DevaCurl line. One of these days I'll do a full post on how I manage my curly hair, but in a nutshell, I use the No Poo cleansing conditioner, the One Condition daily conditioner, and the Ultra Defining Gel.
What We've Been Up To
I made it to some barre classes - yay!
Mr. Fisher and I snagged tickets to the Ohio State/TCU game in September. Woohoo! Go Buckeyes!
I went to Rhode Island and hung out with this girl for the weekend.
The new Stella & Dot line launched and I want all the things.
Mr. Fisher and I road tripped to Galveston to see family and he had a great day out on the water fishing with his uncle and cousin.
I was happy to stay on land and enjoy all the baby snuggles!
I also road tripped to Austin for a work meeting.
July was busy for travel. Fortunately, August looks to be quieter.
What I'm Dreading
The back to school madness. Don't be fooled, colleges are crazy busy at back to school time too! August can be BONKERS.
What I'm Working On
I've got some ideas for blog posts and I've got some work things that I would like to accomplish. I also decided that I am going to cut back on spending/shopping. So you will probably see more posts about how to mix and match what is already in your closet rather than what is new in mine. I'll link to similar items, but I have plenty of clothes and want to get more of them into rotation.
That sound you heard is Mr. Fisher falling over in shock.
What I'm Excited About
We have a subscription to hulu and I am excited about all the previous seasons of Top Chef being available. I could watch Top Chef all day, every day.
What I'm Watching/Reading
I just started reading Elizabeth The Queen and I am hooked. If you liked The Crown, you will love this book. I got through a few books this month including Girl, Wash Your Face (highly recommend) and To The Bridge.
We are hooked on The Great British Baking Show and watch every Friday night! We also are into Top Chef at the moment (thanks Hulu). We are about 3/4 of the way through Season 4. I am also interested in Sharp Objects on HBO. I read the book and LOVED it. It's my favorite Gillian Flynn novel. I am not normally an Amy Adams fan, but this looks GOOD.
What I'm Listening To
I've added a few new Podcasts to my normal rotation: Potluck: A Podcast About Southern Culture, The Splendid Table (about food), and Committed (about marriage). At night, I have been using the Calm app and their bedtime stories to help me fall asleep. It works.
What I'm Wearing
These are my new favorite jeans. And they are from Target! They are the Universal Threads high waist, button fly jeans. Tons of stretch, I bought these when I was home in Rhode Island and the airline lost my luggage. I needed something to wear and I snagged these. Tons of stretch - I recommend sizing down one. The tee is a new favorite. It was too good to pass up in the Nordstrom Sale. It was $11.90! There are a few sizes and colors left. Hopefully they restock.
I love this dress! So easy to wear. It looks great with flats and heels.
I LOVE this dress, especially for travel. It's the softest jersey material and it drapes so well. Easy to pack, easy to wear - it is perfect!
What I'm Doing This Weekend
We are having dinner with Mr. Fisher's parents on Saturday night. We may watch more Top Chef and we have plans to reorganize the garage and the utility room. We initially wanted to do it this weekend, but it was hotter than the surface of the sun. It is supposed to be a little cooler this coming weekend. We'll see.
What I'm Looking Forward To Next Month
My friend Christy is coming to visit and we are going to LeakyCon. Yes - the Harry Potter Convention. Ha! She is going all weekend, I have a pass for Sunday.
What Else is New
Not much - although I am trying to convince Mr. Fisher that we should get a kitten.
What Is Your Favorite Thing You Did This Summer?
A well deserved weeklong vacation with this guy and the rest of my family. A week of no work, no emails, just rest and relaxation. It was perfection.
What have you all been up to this month? What are you looking forward to in August?
