Life Lately

Y'all.  Can you believe it's May already????  Oh my stars, I can't even believe we are already through April.  I need life to slow down just a smidge.  Please???

It's been a little bit since I've done a life lately post as we had a date night recap last Monday, so there's some stuff to catch up on.

This guy celebrated a birthday so we headed out to Dallas to celebrate.  I recapped that here along with our dinner detour due to a fire alarm malfunction.

Well, y'all.  Let me just say that customer service at The Highland is top notch as they have gone over and above to make up for us missing dinner.  Seriously amazing service, so if you are looking for a place to stay in DFW, check out The Highland.  You will not be disappointed.

I wore this super cute dress.  I am definitely packing this dress for our honeymoon in Hawaii.  So cute and it has pockets!  #pocketsforthewin.  It is so well made and I love the detail on the shoulders.

I carried this Dune Tote almost all of last week.  I love the pop of orange and the blue handles.  Perfect for summer and large enough to carry all of your essentials.

I've been trying to be more focused on eating better.  Work is hard, I can tend to graze, especially when I'm stressed.  I've been making more of an effort to try and pack more healthful food so I'm not tempted to snack on junk.  For lunches I have been taking veggie burgers and roasted broccoli or cauliflower.  Snacks have included somersaults, berried, yogurt, and nuts.

Snack time!

I've also been trying to drink more water and I am going to try and double up on workouts 3-4 days a week.  I recently purchased a subscription to Beachbody on Demand and I plan on doing that 3-4 times a week when I get home from work.  This is in addition to barre and running.  #goals #weddingislessthansixmonthsaway

Oh barre, how I love thee.

I need to stay focused, I am only 18 pounds away from goal!!!

We ventured out to Nebraska Furniture Mart to peruse the furniture and I immediately fell in love with this settee and I want it for my bedroom.

I was off to Austin this week for a meeting.  I left my office, grabbed a coffee, and was on my way.  On the drive I caught up on some of my favorite podcasts including: The Popcast with Knox and Jamie, FoodStuff, and The Happy Hour.  They definitely helped pass the time.

See how my hair was straight in the previous picture?  My hair is naturally curly and in an effort to be kind to it I try to heat style a couple of days a week.  I made sure to pack this in my bag for my trip to Austin.  This Amazing Grace dry shampoo is a life saver.  It smells incredible and it gives great volume.  I highly recommend it.

When I got back from Austin I made sure to stop for these beautiful sunflowers for my admin for administrative professionals day.  She is the BEST.  I would not survive without her.  She keeps me on track and is so helpful.

More barre!  This was Friday morning and we had some new choreo (well, new to me at least).  My legs were like jelly all morning!

Friday Semi-Casual Work Wear.  I had an off site meeting and another meeting, but nothing that required full on business attire, so I went with a favorite pair of jeans and heels.  This tank is from LOFT and it's a couple of years old, but you can find similar versions here.  I love this Trouve cardigan.  It's no longer available, but this is similar.

Saturday morning we had a 5K.  My time was average, which given the humidity I thought was a pretty good thing.  It was so humid.  But it was for a great cause and I was happy to participate.

After the race we had some errands to run.  I did some Target shopping while Philip had a haircut.  We did grocery shopping and headed home.  When we got there and unloaded the car I realized that I had left TWO BAGS at Target.  Ugh.  I swung back on my way to get a pedicure and miraculously they had the bags at customer service.  #whew

First of all, this super cute off the shoulder top is on sale!  It's 40% off, so snap it up now!  We were meeting Phillip's parents for dinner and I have been wanting to break out this top.

It was also the perfect night to break out my Taj Clutch.  This is the perfect summer bag.  Bright and colorful, you will want to take this everywhere.

Sunday we were originally going to go to Canton to the First Monday Trade Days to look for some decor items. However. Saturday night tornadoes touched down in Canton and while the grounds were open and undamaged, they were asking people to stay away as there was much cleanup to be done in Canton.  We ended up grabbing lunch at Torchy's Tacos.  Y'all, sorry I didn't grab a picture first but let me assure you the Baja Shrimp Taco is worth getting.  #iwishwehadgottenchipsandquesotoo #nexttime

Instead of Canton, we did some shopping, some meal prep for the week, some cleaning, some catching up with Beej who stopped by, and then we prepped dinner.  This one skillet jambalaya from Cooking Light is one of our favorites.  So good that we're having the leftovers tomorrow night!

I also did some closet cleaning and put some items up on Poshmark.  I love this app.  It's so easy to use and I've had success selling some of my clothes and handbags.

When I was in Austin I finished The Notorious RBG (and I LOVED it).  I moved on to A Man Called Ove and I am liking it so far.  I'm hoping to finish by the end of next week.  I have The Girl in Cabin 10 on deck and am looking forward to that one.

That's a little of what we have been up to lately.  What's going on with you?

xoxoxoxo
