Date Night at The Meddlesome Moth

To start, let me say, we are fine here in Dallas.  We are about 400 miles away from the hurricane.  We will get residual rain and will get a good soaking this week, but we are ok.

We had a nice quiet weekend.  No work for either of us, and my last class in my certificate program starts Monday, so we took advantage of the quiet and had a low key weekend.  The highlight of this weekend?  Trying a new restaurant for date night.  Phillip suggested it and we had an amazing time.

The restaurant is casual, but nice.  So jeans were in order, but I wanted to dress it up a bit.  I grabbed my favorite pair of skinny jeans (these J. Crew Factory ones are so soft and comfy), a fun white tank that I found at Target, and then grabbed some fun jewelry.  I love this piece of the Emmeline necklace and the blues just popped against the white of the top.

I also added this gorgeous silver bracelet.  It's one of my favorites.  I wear it to work, I wear it on date night.  It's just a great silver piece.

My handsome date for the evening.

Meddlesome Moth is a great restaurant.  I cannot recommend it enough.  It's in the Design District and it is funky and eclectic.

Check out the stained glass!  So so pretty.  The restaurant definitely had a casual yet upscale feel to it.  And if you are a beer drinker?  You have to try it.  They have about 40 beers on tap and then many more in bottles.

Phillip went with a beer flight and he was glad he did.  I was too.  I am not a beer fan normally but he had me try that dark one on the end and I actually enjoyed it.  It was smooth with a rich coffee note.

I was wanting something in the vicinity of a cider and this sour ale with cherry notes was perfect.

Decisions, decisions!  The restaurant specializes in small plates and the hard part is deciding which ones to get.

We started with the tomata burrata salad and were not disappointed.  I think this was my favorite thing all night.  It was almost like a build your own bruschetta with burrata and garlic confit tomatoes.  So delicious.

We also ordered the hummus which came with pickled cauliflower.  Purple pickled cauliflower!  And warm pita.  Yum.  Oh it was delicious.

The restaurant called these Moth Balls.  They were ricotta balls with pesto and cream sauce.  Definitely a winner.  You could smell the basil as soon as she set the plate down.

Ribs!  And the fries!  The ribs were falling off the bone.  They were cooked well.  I was just not a fan of the sauce, but that was just me.  There was a strong note of cinnamon or allspice and I just wasn't a fan.  The fries were incredibly delicious.  Crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, as perfect as fries could be.  So so good.

We had a great time discovering this place and would definitely go back.  Great ambience, amazing service, and we loved the small plates and trying a few different items.  We will definitely be going back.
