Oh what a week it has been! A sick cat, lots at work, and I'm out of town through tomorrow. I'm already looking forward to the short week next week! Here's what our crazy week looked like.

Phillip wanted to make homemade baba ganouj so we grilled some eggplants and tried our hands at it. It turned out pretty tasty but felt like it was missing something. We're going to try again.

And then you know, I took a barre class...because of course

We made a tasty sweet potato and roasted chicken risotto for dinner. It was a Mix and Match Mama recipe and we were not disappointed at all. So good, it's going into permanent rotation.

This one couldn't wait for it to be finished.

And on Monday it was back to barre...have I mentioned that I love it? I know, only about 8,000 times.

And this one...so I bleached the toilet and the floor around it. The second I finish, this one comes to roll all around in it like I had used catnip or something. So bleach = catnip? Such an odd cat.

Not wanting to be left out, I had to rip the bedroom apart to wrangle Kate. She wouldn't open one of her eyes and it was tearing like crazy, so off to the vet we went. Once I was able to capture her that is.

Inside this carrier is a very unhappy kitty.

Jack and I got to snuggle a bit while waiting for the vet to call and say I could go pick up Kate. He can be standoffish and grumpy but sometimes he's a love bug. He's still not a lapcat though. Never a lapcat. Sigh.

And here's my poor munchkin. She has an ulcer on her eye. The vet sutured her third eyelid closed to act as a bandaid. I know, I shudder thinking about it. She goes back at the end of the week to see how she's doing. For now she gets eye drops and pain reliever. And I'm out of town through tomorrow which means poor Phillip is dosing her by himself. #fingerscrossed

She's doing a little better and is not hiding under the bed so much anymore. Phillip sent this to me last night. The cone/collar is flipped down so she can eat. It gets flipped up at night and when we aren't home so she can't scratch.

Date night on Saturday night! Always. It's our standing date and I look forward to it every week. This week we went to see Arrival with Amy Adams and Jeremy Renner. I am not an Amy Adams fan at all. I just have an irrational dislike for her. With that said, the movie was excellent. One of the best we've seen this year. So so good. If you are looking for something interesting and fascinating and thought provoking, go see Arrival. Phillip bribed me with the promise of dinner at one of our favorite Mexican restaurants, Mi Dia. So that's what got me in the door, but I'm glad we went to see it.

And then going away breakfast this morning before I hit the road for Horseshoe Bay. It's our favorite little neighborhood spot and he gets the same thing every time. I'm not nearly so regimented at Le Peep (unlike Cafe Brazil where I order the same thing every time we go). Today it was blueberry granola pancakes and they were tasty.

Alcoholic options aside, I am not a huge soda drinker. Most days it's lots of water and a couple of cups of coffee. However, the drive to Horseshoe Bay was about 3.5 hours. That kind of drive meant I was going to treat myself to a Diet Coke from Sonic. Many moons ago Angela Powell and Cindy Spencer introduced me to the cherry vanilla Diet Coke from Sonic and changed my life forever. I used to drink them all the time, but since my surgery I'm supposed to keep carbonation to a minimum. And I do, except on really long drives when I can sip the drink over the span of hours. Oh it was just what I needed on the drive this afternoon.
And yes, I cut my hair. My plan was to grow it out for the wedding, but I'm not a long hair person. The shorter hair suits me and I want to be me on my wedding day, so last weekend I had about 3 inches cut off. I was hoping it would be shorter but it's fine for now. I'll get her to go a little shorter when I go in for a trim in December.
That's a peek into our life lately. What's new with you all? Sound off in the comments!
