Life Lately

Hello Monday!  I wish you weren't here yet, but let's soldier on, shall we?  It's my last week of summer hours and I am so glad.  I cannot wait to get back to my regular schedule and routine.  Last week was a busy one - I had some travel and we had new arrivals launch for Stella & Dot.  Here's a peek into last week...

I started the week by scheduling a pop-up event with my barre studio, Pure Barre Las Colinas.  If you are free Saturday morning, come by and try on the new Stella & Dot arrivals!  I'll be doing a giveaway too!

On Tuesday it was off to Austin.  It's an easy drive down 35 and I had plenty of podcasts queued up to get me through the almost 3 hour drive.  I got to one of my usual hotels, the Doubletree, and met up with a friend for dinner.  We spent the next two hours catching up, laughing, and enjoying ourselves.  It was long overdue and we could probably have spent another two hours chatting.

The elevators in this hotel have these quirky antler images in them.  The hotel was recently renovated and there are things like this all over.  I love it.  #hiltonhonors #silverstatus #hiltonloyal

The meeting rooms at this hotel are notoriously cold, so dressing in layers is important.  I've had this dress from loft for a few years and it's always been a favorite.  I paired it with an ivory cardigan and sandals.  And then it was off to my meetings.

When I travel for work, I get sushi for dinner at least once.  Phillip is not a fan, so I try to get my sushi fix on the road.  Sushi Japon is close to the hotel and always good.

I fell in love with this dress as soon as I saw it.  Unfortunately it is not longer available, but I linked to a similar one.  I just love the green color.  I paired it with rose gold jewelry for a pretty summer outfit.

I tried to counteract some of the conference food by bringing my own snacks and I tried to drink plenty of water.  There were cupcakes at lunch though...

Ah, Texas residency.  It's one of those things where you wish there were definitive answers about everything, but there are not.  #itsanartnotascience

And then it was Friday!  We had some morning sessions and then I was ready to hit the road and head home.  July was tough.  I was out of the office almost half the month due to travel for work.  Which also means I was away from home for half the month.  I was eager to get back.

I was a bit early to the morning session, so armed with an iced coffee, a snack, and some water, I was able to get through a few chapters of The Couple Next Door before the session started.

Friday night after we went for a run and had dinner, Phillip and I went to check out progress on the house.  The gas fireplace is in!

After we checked out progress on the house, we stopped at one of our favorite local places, The Ranch, for a drink.  It was a nice way to end our evening.  And if you are ever at The Ranch, order the Texas Tea.  It's delicious.

On Saturday, my cousin Beej and my future mother in law, Cindy, hosted a bridal shower for me.  It was lovely.  I was able to meet more of Phillip's family that I hadn't met yet and just enjoyed the company.  And the food was good.  #yestomacarons #givemeallthequeso

On the drive back from Garland we saw this gorgeous sunset.  Don't worry, Phillip was driving.  It was so so pretty, I had to snap a picture.  I love Texas.  You know how you have those moments when you think to yourself, how did I get here?  I have those moments and this was one of them.  I love living in Texas.

I started Sunday morning with a barre class.  Melissa kicked butt!  It was a great class andgreat way to start the day.  Then I ran a million errands.

I had to run into Home Depot for some boxes to pack some things and saw this outside.  Any of y'all in Texas have one of these???

Driving around on my errands, this song came on.  I think this is my favorite Whitney song of all time.  It still gives me chills.  I believe this was the Olympic song for the 1988 Seoul Olympics.  I get that feeling about Reach, by Gloria Estefan.  It was the Olympic song for the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta.  I could play both of those songs on repeat.
And that was the week that was!  On to this week.  I am in the office all week - thank goodness and I have one last Friday off.  Make it a great week everyone!
