10 Things to Tell You - When Do You Read?

As I mentioned yesterday, Laura Tremaine has a new podcast based on her blog - 10 Things To Tell You.  Each week she gives a prompt.  Listeners are then encouraged to journal, or blog, or engage on social media, or chat with your friends about the prompt.  It's a great listen and I absolutely love Laura.  Especially when the first topic was revealed.

Friday Favorites - Podcast Round Up

It's the end of the week!  Woohoo!  And it's Easter weekend!  Woohoo!

I haven't done a Podcast round up in awhile and thought this Friday I would share with you some of my favorites and some episodes to get you started.

What's Up Wednesday

I know y'all, it's been awhile, but to be honest I was in a dark place after we had to relinquish Georgia back to the rescue and I needed to step away for a bit and clear the decks.  It was good to have some down time.

I thought that What's Up Wednesday would be a good place to start back at it and give you all a glimpse into what we've been up to around here.

What We're Eating This Week

I have been out of town since Sunday so the meals for the rest of this week are a mishmash...
Wednesday: Salad with rotisserie chicken
Thursday: Probably fish and cauliflower or salad again depending on how late we both work
Friday: Mr. Fisher's family from San Antonio are in town for Easter and they're coming for dinner.  We will probably cook out and do fajitas, chips, and salsa, Mexican corn, and tres leches cake

What's Up Wednesday

Thank you to all my friends and family who reached out to make sure we are ok.  We are safe and dry here in Dallas, but the devastation in Houston is unbelievable.  If you feel so inclined and would like to help out, please consider one of the following:

Houston Food Bank
Houston SPCA
Salvation Army
Houston Flood Relief Fund

Watching the news is heartbreaking - if you are in a position to help or donate, please consider doing so.

On to our scheduled posting...

Holy cow we are at September's door people.  I'm going to be honest, I'm freaking out a little about the wedding.  We are just under 2 months away and I still have some details to work out #hairandmakeup

Here's what we've been up to in August!

What We're Eating This Week

Last week I wrote about being vegan. I have decided to try and eliminate meat, most dairy, and eggs, etc. from my diet. So far, so good.  I was never a huge meat eater anyways, but Phillip and I sat down and talked about it and we have been looking at ways to make our meals in ways that it's easy to either add meat for him or swap out meat for beans or something instead.  With that in mind, here is our menu for this week:

Sunday: Eggplant Rollatini with Ricotta and Spinach
Monday: Leftover Eggplant Rollatini
Tuesday: Chicken Shawarma Bowls (being a bowl, it's easy to just not have chicken on mine and have more chickpeas)
Wednesday: Carne Asada Bowls (again, leaving the chicken off mine and adding more beans)
Thursday: Cauliflower Pizza with vegan cheese on my half and mozzarella and turkey meatballs on his
Friday: Veggie Burgers and Green Beans
Saturday: Not sure yet...

What I'm Reminiscing About

Disney!  This time last year we were gearing up for our big trip.

We had fun on date night in Epcot

Phillip made some new friends

And we got to experience all the fun with this little miss!

What I'm Loving

Our new garage doors!  Seriously, I am loving all of the amazing progress on our house.

What We've Been Up To

The blog got a makeover!  I am loving the new design.  I had to get into the swing of using a different platform, but I am so so happy with how it all turned out.

New school year means it's time for a new planner and I am LOVING my Simplified Planner.  Emily Ley has a winning product here.

I scoured IKEA for ideas for my new office in the new house and I am definitely planning on this piece.

Pure Barre released a new program - Pure Barre Empower and I can tell you I am here for it!  I love it.  I still love my classic barre classes, but I am never one to back down from a challenge and Empower has it.

So there were plenty of barre classes this past month and word on the street is that we're doing another challenge soon and y'all know how I feel about a challenge #cantsayno

We had an amazing dinner at Meddleome Moth.  I recapped that earlier this week.

What I'm Dreading

Nothing!  I'm getting MARRIED in less than 60 days, our honeymoon is booked, my family is coming to town, and I am marrying the love of my life?  Ask me in two months when I am staring down the prospect of packing up the apartment and moving...

What I'm Working on

I've got some Stella & Dot stuff in the works (and some new releases coming).  There is an amazing Labor Day sale right now.  Here are some of my favorites.

If you see something you like - grab it!  Things are selling out quickly.  If you have questions, or would like to order, shoot me an email!

What I'm Excited About

Um, Hawaii???  Two months and we will be on sandy beaches, exploring volcanoes, and relaxing, relaxing, relaxing.

What I'm Watching/Reading

Like the rest of the country, we just finished Game of Thrones, and all I can say is Whoa.  I got through a few books this month too, most of which I would recommend (skip babyland).

What I'm Listening To

Now that football season is looming, I've been listening to more sports radio in the morning and podcasts while I'm working.  For sports radio I always tune in to Mike & Mike.  Current podcast favorites: Sorta Awesome, The Popcast, How I Built This, Whys Advice with FatDag, Food Stuff, and 99% Invisible.

What I'm Wearing

What I'm Doing This Weekend

We don't really have anything on the agenda for this weekend.  We will definitely swing by the house and check on progress and I'd like to maybe go walking at White Rock Lake if the weather is nice.  Phillip will probably go to the driving range while I hit up my usual Weight Watchers meeting.

What I'm Looking Forward To Next Month

Final wedding details!  More progress on the house!  Final honeymoon planning!  So much going on!

What Else Is New

Not much...but plenty of ongoing stuff to be excited about.  I can't wait to see what September holds!

Friday Favorites - Podcast Round Up

Y'all, just a quick PSA before I jump into this Friday's Favorites.  It's almost here.  The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale.  This is THE SALE of the year.  You can get new Fall lines at discounted prices.  Today I am highlighting my favorites and including a couple of splurges in with the bunch.  The sale begins July 21.  You'll want to shop early because stuff sells out quickly.  If you are a Nordstrom Rewards member, you get EARLY ACCESS.  It's free to sign up - so do it!  Early Access begins July 13!  You get a whole week to shop before everyone else.  Now on with the regularly scheduled program.

**********************************************************************************

You all know my love for Podcasts.  I listen to them all the time.  Every so often I'll do a round up of what I'm currently listening to, especially since I am constantly adding new ones all the time.

The Popcast with Knox and Jamie.  If you are a fan of all things pop culture this one is for you.  It drops on Wednesday morning so it is the perfect thing to get you over the midweek hump.  I have giggled out loud on more than one occasion.  It's like listening to two friends discuss movies, tv, music, and all that other pop culture goodness.

Are you a sports fan?  Have you ever watched the ESPN 30 for 30 documentaries?  Well they started a podcast and it is good.  The most recent release was on the "Yankees Suck" chant and as a Red Sox fan I was tickled.  Check this one out.

I stumbled on True Crime Garage this week and I am hooked.  I am a sucker for a true crime podcast and this one does not disappoint.  The most recent one was a two parter on the Madeleine McCann abduction.  It's not sensationalized, it's not over the top, just informative.

The one I listen to first thing in the morning is Up First by NPR.  First thing on my drive every morning I start this podcast for a quick news hit.  It's 12-15 minutes and a good way to get a handle on what's going on in the world as I start my day.

Another recent discovery is Best Case Worst Case.  A former FBI Profiler and a prosecuter take you behind the scenes.  It's almost like a real life podcast version of Law & Order.

Smartest Person in the Room runs on themes.  Every few weeks there is a new theme and the host interviews people based on the theme.  Basically, the smartest people in the room related to a certain subject.  Reality TV, Books, you name it.  It's fascinating and riveting.  I love it.

All Pro Mindset is motivational and inspirational.  Hosted by Doc (a psychologist and my college roommate) and Coach, each week sees them interviewing different "pros" - actors, athletes, lawyers, about what it takes to be successful in their given area.  Give it a listen!

And that's what's in my podcast queue - what are you all listening to?  Sound off in the comments!  I am off to Phoenix tomorrow - have a great weekend y'all!

What's Up Wednesday!

Here we are - the last Wednesday of May - can you believe it???  I know I saw this just about every month, but this month went by soooooo fast.  Holy Cow!  And I don't see any signs of things slowing down.  Here's what we've been up to this month!

What We're Eating This Week

I feel like we've been eating all the things because of our trip to New York.  Trying to get back on the healthy eating train after that trip.

Monday - grilled chicken, roasted broccoli, and couscous
Tuesday - zucchini noodles, creamy tomato basil sauce, and turkey meatballs
Wednesday - honey chipotle salmon and roasted brussel sprouts
Thursday - don't know yet
Friday - not sure, maybe turkey burgers, per usual
Saturday - date night and I can't think that far ahead yet, ha!

The strawberries have been delicious lately so I have been picking up a container each week at the market.  I'm trying to pack good, healthy snacks for work so I am not tempted to pick on junk.

What I'm Reminiscing About

Our trip to New York!  We had such a great weekend.  We explored so much of Manhattan.  It was fun to share that experience with Phillip - it was his first trip!

And for real, go see Anastasia!  We were not disappointed.  A phenomenal cast and just so well done.

The trip ended on a high note - when you are 6'6" you hope that this is the seat you get!

At the moment, I am LOVING being a Stella & Dot Stylist.  May was a really good month for me on this journey.  I hit two milestones and I have just been having so much fun with it.

What We've Been Up To

Commencement dominated my time at work.

I got to snuggle with this sweet boy.

Got some wedding stuff checked off the list.  We had our tasting and ordered our invitations.  Eeek!  It's coming up so fast!

Got ready for swimsuit season by finding some great suits.

And of course, barre!

What I'm Dreading

At the moment?  Nothing.  All is good.

What I'm Working On

I've been working on some Stella & Dot stuff for June as well as some wedding final details.  Interested in hosting a show or know of someone who would?  Hit me up, June dates are filling up fast.

What I'm Excited About

A few weeks ago, our house looked like this:

But now...it looks like this:

Squeee!!!  They've put the forms up and done some grading.  Yay!!!!  We had our pre-construction meeting and now they get started.  Hooray!!!

What I'm Watching/Reading

I'm hoping to finish A Man Called Ove this weekend.  And then it's on to The Woman in Cabin 10.

I binge watched Anne with an E on the plan this last weekend and I was NOT disappointed.  It was so so good.  It's a little darker and grittier than the much beloved 1985 version, but I feel it hews more closely to what Anne's life would have been like in the orphanage and in service prior to her arrival at Green Gables.  I found it to be incredibly well done.

What I'm Listening To

New podcasts I've added to the rotation: Sorta Awesome and The Daily.

Still in rotation:  All the others, ha!  My Favorite Murder, The Happy Hour with Jamie Ivey, The West Wing Weekly, Stuff Mom Never Told You...

What I'm Wearing

top | jeans | sandals (similar) | earrings (similar)

top | shorts (similar) | shoes | necklace | earrings

top

top | skirt | shoes | necklace (similar)

This is my new favorite summer work outfit - and I found the top and skirt at Target!  the skirt is a midi length and I just love it.

What I'm Doing This Weekend

I think just laying low and catching up on some sleep.

What I'm Looking Forward to Next Month

A trip back to Rhode Island for my bridal shower and hopefully a day at the beach!

What Else Is New

Not much, but ask me again in a week or so.

Bonus Question: What's Your Favorite Vacation Spot

Hawaii!!!  Hands down.

It was so beautiful and so relaxing.  I cannot wait to go back this October.

That's it for What's Up Wednesday!  Don't forget about the Giveaway!!!  You have until tomorrow night to submit your entry.

You could win this gorgeous blue Passion Planner and a Starbucks Giftcard!  Perfect to get a jump start on your planning for the next year.

Have a great day everyone!
