Working From Home - How I Work Out

When Coronavirus hit, I felt I had just gotten my feet back under me after returning to work from maternity leave.  We had a good routine down and it was working pretty well.  I had gotten into the habit of getting up at 4am to work out before Henry would get up.  This way I'd be showered, dressed, and ready to go before he wok up and started his morning routine.

Friday Favorites - Workout Gear

Happy Friday, Friends!  I have been all off this week on what day it has been.  With traveling, and being on leave, I have lost track of days several times.

I have recently gotten back into a workout routine and nothing gets you motivated to workout like new gear, right?  I'm highlighting some of my favorites today.

Friday Favorites - Fitness and Nutrition

Hooray for Friday!  As you are reading this, I am home in Rhode Island for the weekend surprising this one:

Life Lately

As you may have been able to tell by my extended absence from blogging, life lately has been a little hectic.  Mainly due to work.  Crazy times at the office meant that when the weekend would come around, I had no energy to pour into blogging.  Things have started to even out a bit though and I have had a little more time on weekends and I miss connecting with you all!  Thank you for your patience with me.

Here's a peek into what's been going on the past few weeks.

Friday Favorites - Workout Gear and a Giveaway!

Happy Friday Y'all!  It was a pretty good week - I got a workout in 4 out of the 5 workdays this week.  That has not happened in awhile!  And it felt good.  Having the treadmill in the house has been so good for us and I have started mixing the 21 Day Fix workouts back into rotation.  I had really gotten off my workout routine the last couple of months.
Working out a lot means I need a variety of workout clothes.  Here are my recent favorites!

Happy New Year/Goals for 2018

Happy New Year Friends!  I hope the holidays were good to you all.  Mr. Fisher and I loved spending our first Christmas in the new house.  It was fun to decorate and enjoy the new space.  Fortunately we are all moved in and unpacked so we really could just enjoy it and not feel like we were living out of boxes.

But it's January 1st!  And as much as there were so many great things about 2017 - a wedding! Hawaii! a new house!  I will be excited for a slower pace in 2018.  With that said, I've been giving some serious thoughts to my goals for 2018.  Here are the ones I've settled on for this year:

Life Lately - Taking Care of the Details

Today is a big day - I start my job at the University of Texas at Arlington.  And we are less than 4 weeks away from the wedding, and approximately 8 weeks away from moving.  Yikes!  So much going on - and the weekends just fly by.

Here's a peek at what we've been up to lately!

Life Lately - The Countdown is On!

Good Morning Y'all and Happy Monday.  I cannot believe we are less than five weeks away from the wedding!  I've been working on a lot of final details and I've got a walkthrough of the hotel planned this week with my wedding coordinator.  As you'll see, a lot of this Monday's post is dedicated to wedding details.

Started off Monday with my current favorite skirt.  It's a fave for a few reasons.  1 - I love a pencil skirt.  2 - it's yellow and grey. 3 - it's basketweave.   The top is a medium, which is what I usually get at J. Crew, unless it's a button down and then I size up to a large.  The skirt is a 12, which is my usual size at J. Crew.

Five for Friday - Nordstrom Rack

Hello Y'all!  It's Friday!!!  And I have been working hard this week at wrapping up final wedding details.  This week's project?  Finishing up the ceremony details.  And it's done!  So let's celebrate a little with some favorites.

Did you all know that Nordstrom Rack has a website???  I thought they were only brick and mortar.  Y'all, this is a game changer.  And I am super excited to share my finds this week.  First up, a favorite pair of leggings that I own and love.

These Alo Yoga Airbrush leggings in the blue python print?  A favorite.  And Alo leggings are some of the best.  But they are pricy.  You can get them up to 50% off at Nordstrom Rack.  Definitely worth checking out.

Life Lately

Hello Monday!  Did you all have a good weekend?  We had quiet weekend, not much going on.  The usual errands, date night, house chores, you know the drill.  Here's a peek into what we've been doing lately.

Let's start with a PSA - did you know that Sephora will package perfume samples for you?  I went in looking for a perfume for my wedding day and the woman offered to put together samples of the ones I was interested in trying.  This way I could try them on, wear them, and see how they reacted on my skin.  Such a great idea and a lot of help.  I tried Replica's Lipstick OnChanel's Gabrielle, Armani's Si, and Elizabeth and James' Amethyst.

Life Lately

Happy Monday!  I am enjoying a day at home today.  I'm contemplating going for a run in a bit.  The weather here is starting to cool down...well, what we consider cooler in Texas (not in the 90s anymore - hooray).

I can't even tell you how crazy it is around here.  So much going on.  Final wedding prep and details, more progress on the house, and the newest thing?  I start a new job in 4 weeks.  Yikes!  So crazy, but all of it good.  I am so excited about this new position, but it's bittersweet because I am sad about leaving my current place.  It's been a great place to work these last four years.  Here's a little peek into our crazy, upside down life last week!

Five For Friday - Barre/Athleisure Wear

This has been quite a week y'all.  Texas is my adopted home and my heart aches for Houston.  On Wednesday's post I linked to several places to help out, if you can please donate.  They were hit so hard.  We in Dallas were fortunate enough to escape the rain, but now there's a run on gas, so our goal is to only drive when we have to until the panic subsides.

Since it looks like we'll be relaxing at home most of the weekend, my mind is on athleisure and my comfiest leggings.  I thought for this week's Five for Friday I would highlight my current faves.  Most of them double as great leggings for barre or yoga and there's nothing better than new workout clothes to get you in the right mindset to work out!

Life Lately

Hey y'all!  How was your weekend?  I wrapped up a class on Saturday so it was nice to have Sunday with no homework hanging over my head.  Work should be busy, but good this week and I am looking forward to the Chancellor's Breakfast on Wednesday and then in two weeks it's the long Labor Day weekend - yay!  Can you believe we are 2/3 of the way through August???  #ineedtimetoslowdown #toomuchtodo #68dayuntilthewedding

Here's a peek into life lately around these parts...

Hooray for barre!  I made it to four classes this week which makes me feel good.   The studio started the new Empower classes this past week and I have been loving them.  More cardio-centric than the classic class, it has been getting my heart rate up!

What's Up Wednesday

July is just about in the books and I am CRAVING Fall weather.  The Nordstrom Sale isn't helping my craving either.  I want all the pumpkin things!  We have hit the high heat of summer here in Texas and I am dreaming of cooler temps.  As we slide into August, it's time for What's Up Wednesday.  Here'sa look back at July and a peek into August.

What We're Eating This Week

With the wedding less than 100 days away we are trying to eat as healthy as possible and be consistent in our workouts.  Fingers crossed we can keep it up until October!
Monday - Veggie Burrito Bowls
Tuesday - Fish and Roasted Cauliflower
Wednesday - Grilled Chicken and Asparagus
Thursday - Soup
Friday - Turkey Burgers and Green Beans
Saturday - not sure yet, but something at home.  Saturday is usually date night, but we're limiting ourselves to once or twice a month now instead of every Saturday.
Sunday - not sure, but maybe one skillet jambalaya

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale - Part 2 (Fitness Finds)

Hello y'all and happy Friday!  It's the weekend and I imagine if you have early access as a Nordstrom card holder you are checking out the sale, right?  Yesterday I posted about my favorite finds.  Today, I'm taking a second chance to post about my favorite fitness finds in the sale.

You all know I love barre and working out.  I run, I do Beachbody, I do barre, being active is important and I want to look and feel good while I'm doing it.  The Nordstrom sale is a great time to stock up on gear.

Life Lately

Hello from Phoenix, Arizona!  It is scorching here.  And seeing as how I live in Texas, you know that it's super hot.  I'm here for work until Thursday and it's supposed to be about 110 all week.  Sigh.  When I get back and it's only 95, it's going to feel downright chilly.

Summer is just whizzing right past.  I have had more travel than usual and I can hardly believe that we are already into the second week of July.  It's only 110 days until our wedding and approximately 160 days until we close on our house.  Eeek!!!  Phillip has been busy with deadlines at work and I have been trying to wrap up a few projects myself.  Here's a peek into what we've been up to lately.

Barre.  I love barre, but my summer schedule has seriously curtailed my ability to go as often as I would like.  I haven't had class with Niki in over a month!!!  #sadface #barrebestie

I've been working on my Nordstrom Anniversary Sale post for this week.  It's my Friday Favorites post, but I may post it on Thursday since that's when the sale starts.  There are some good things.  It's going to be so hard to choose what to get.  #ineedtowinthelottery

the house is coming along!  I popped in on Friday while I was off.  I had to drop Kate at the vet and was in the neighborhood so I wandered around for a bit.  If you follow me on Instastories, you know I found a slight issue with my office space that has since been rectified.

This old girl got a wash and vacuum, which she so sorely needed.  Badly.  It had been too long since I took the car to be cleaned.  #whitecarproblems

Saturday was the day I left for Phoenix.  I was all packed and ready to go and Phillip picked up my suitcase and said, "I think you're going to have a problem.  This is over 50 pounds."  To which I said, "There's no way.  It's not over 50."  He looked at me dubiously, so sure was he that he was right.  Well look at that - 44.5 pounds!  So yes, I was right.

I finished this book while on the plane.  It was so good. If you've ever seen Eddie Izzard live or seen any of his shows on tv, this book truly reads in his voice.  Every EI fan should read it.  After that, I read The Tea Planter's Wife, which I thoroughly enjoyed.  And now I am on to The Nest, which I am loving and expect to finish today or tomorrow.

Landed in Phoenix, where it was a scorching 110 degrees and immediately snagged an iced coffee from Starbucks while I waited for my luggage.

The resort my meeting is at is lovely.  The Arizona Grand Resort has a water park, a golf course, a spa, and a conference center.  I had dinner the first night at the Lobby Grill.  Instead of bread, they bring you housemade kettle chips.  I approved.

I had seen the dessert on the menu and knew I wanted that so went with the Lobby Grill Salad for dinner and was not disappointed.  I didn't even use the dressing.  Roasted mushrooms, green, and a little bacon with homemade garlic bread.

And then this deliciousness for dessert - a s'mores ice cream sandwich.  It was as yummy as it looks.

Sunday I had the opportunity to lay by the pool for a few hours before it got too hot.

Such a beautiful view at the pool.  It was nice to have some quiet time.

dress (similar) | sandals (similar) | necklace (similar) | earrings

Since it was going to be so hot, I needed to dress for the weather, but I still wanted to look put together.  This is a work trip and I need to put on a good face at all times.  I had one session on Sunday afternoon, so this loft dress from last year did the trick.

Dinner Sunday night was at a restaurant at the resort, Aunt Chilada's.  It was good and I loved the decor.  Those silver star lights are so so pretty.  I'd love to hang one or two outside at the new house.

If you follow me on Instastories, you know that I've already raved about the service at the Arizona Grand.  They drive you every where in golf carts because of the heat.  So kind!  So I got a golf cart ride to the restaurant and when I was done, the hostess called the lobby to let them know I needed to be picked up!

The health spa and gym are beautiful!  I made sure to get a run in on Sunday.  This is a sedentary meeting, not a ton of walking around, and I want to stay on top of my workouts/activity.

I received my first ever alert for a dust storm!  Despite my peeping out of my blinds every few minutes, I didn't see anything.

I love a face mask and I love trying new ones!  This one is from Sephora and it's their Mud Mask - Purifying and Mattifying.  It dried quickly and came off easily.  My skin felt so soft after.  I loved it.

Despite the heat I am enjoying Arizona!  Tomorrow's post is all about Stella & Dot faves, Wednesday is a Workin' It post and I'm talking about our weekend adventures.  Have a great week y'all!

What's Up Wednesday!

Here we are - the last Wednesday of May - can you believe it???  I know I saw this just about every month, but this month went by soooooo fast.  Holy Cow!  And I don't see any signs of things slowing down.  Here's what we've been up to this month!

What We're Eating This Week

I feel like we've been eating all the things because of our trip to New York.  Trying to get back on the healthy eating train after that trip.

Monday - grilled chicken, roasted broccoli, and couscous
Tuesday - zucchini noodles, creamy tomato basil sauce, and turkey meatballs
Wednesday - honey chipotle salmon and roasted brussel sprouts
Thursday - don't know yet
Friday - not sure, maybe turkey burgers, per usual
Saturday - date night and I can't think that far ahead yet, ha!

The strawberries have been delicious lately so I have been picking up a container each week at the market.  I'm trying to pack good, healthy snacks for work so I am not tempted to pick on junk.

What I'm Reminiscing About

Our trip to New York!  We had such a great weekend.  We explored so much of Manhattan.  It was fun to share that experience with Phillip - it was his first trip!

And for real, go see Anastasia!  We were not disappointed.  A phenomenal cast and just so well done.

The trip ended on a high note - when you are 6'6" you hope that this is the seat you get!

What We've Been Up To

Commencement dominated my time at work.

I got to snuggle with this sweet boy.

Got some wedding stuff checked off the list.  We had our tasting and ordered our invitations.  Eeek!  It's coming up so fast!

Got ready for swimsuit season by finding some great suits.

And of course, barre!

What I'm Dreading

At the moment?  Nothing.  All is good.

What I'm Working On

I've been working on some Stella & Dot stuff for June as well as some wedding final details.  Interested in hosting a show or know of someone who would?  Hit me up, June dates are filling up fast.

What I'm Excited About

A few weeks ago, our house looked like this:

But now...it looks like this:

Squeee!!!  They've put the forms up and done some grading.  Yay!!!!  We had our pre-construction meeting and now they get started.  Hooray!!!

What I'm Watching/Reading

I'm hoping to finish A Man Called Ove this weekend.  And then it's on to The Woman in Cabin 10.

I binge watched Anne with an E on the plan this last weekend and I was NOT disappointed.  It was so so good.  It's a little darker and grittier than the much beloved 1985 version, but I feel it hews more closely to what Anne's life would have been like in the orphanage and in service prior to her arrival at Green Gables.  I found it to be incredibly well done.

What I'm Listening To

New podcasts I've added to the rotation: Sorta Awesome and The Daily.

Still in rotation:  All the others, ha!  My Favorite Murder, The Happy Hour with Jamie Ivey, The West Wing Weekly, Stuff Mom Never Told You...

What I'm Wearing

top | jeans | sandals (similar) | earrings (similar)

top | shorts (similar) | shoes | necklace | earrings

top

top | skirt | shoes | necklace (similar)

This is my new favorite summer work outfit - and I found the top and skirt at Target!  the skirt is a midi length and I just love it.

What I'm Doing This Weekend

I think just laying low and catching up on some sleep.

What I'm Looking Forward to Next Month

A trip back to Rhode Island for my bridal shower and hopefully a day at the beach!

What Else Is New

Not much, but ask me again in a week or so.

Bonus Question: What's Your Favorite Vacation Spot

Hawaii!!!  Hands down.

It was so beautiful and so relaxing.  I cannot wait to go back this October.

That's it for What's Up Wednesday!  Don't forget about the Giveaway!!!  You have until tomorrow night to submit your entry.

You could win this gorgeous blue Passion Planner and a Starbucks Giftcard!  Perfect to get a jump start on your planning for the next year.

Have a great day everyone!
