Amazon Lately

Amazon has been a lifesaver during quarantine.  Between working full-time and life with an on-the-go toddler, there is just little opportunity to run out and do this quick errands.  Here's some of the things that we've purchased lately that have been great finds.

How We: Spring Clean/Organize

Hello Wednesday!  That means this week is half over and this week has felt like SPRING!  Finally!  And that has me thinking about...spring cleaning.

I know, totally boring, right?  I actually really like spring cleaning.  It gives me a chance to throw open the windows, let the fresh air in, and do some cleaning out and organizing.

This month's link-up is all about how we spring clean.

New House Tour

It took us about a week, but we are all done.  Moved in.  As settled as we can possibly be at the moment.  We're waiting on a new rug and the new couch and tables for the living room. We're also needing a few hardware pieces to hang a couple more things.  Other than that?  We are all unpacked!  Woohoo!!!

I love our house!

What's Up Wednesday!

I missed October's link up because of the wedding, but I'm back!  Here's what we've been up to this month (and I can't even believe I am already at the point where I am doing the November post).

What We're Eating This Week

We are going to be pretty boring eaters until the move.  We're starting to pack up the apartment so we're relying on some standbys until we're moved and settled.

Monday: Zucchini Burritos
Tuesday: Fish and Cauliflower
Wednesday: Grilled Chicken and Brussels Sprouts
Thursday: Thanksgiving!!!
Friday: Leftovers
Saturday and Sunday: not sure yet

Five For Friday - Home for the Holidays

Oh Friday, thank goodness you are here.  It has been quite a week!  I am very much looking forward to the weekend.  How did you fare this week, my friends?

Something to look forward to that has me very excited is MOVING!  We will be in our new house by Christmas and that has me all kinds of excited about decorating for the holidays.  Phillip keeps telling me to slow my roll, but I can't help myself.  I can't wait to put up a tree and decorate!  Here are my five favorite things I've found to decorate for the holidays!

New House Update - We're Getting Close!

Oh my stars, you guys.  The house is moving along.  Every week we stop by and I am just amazed at how much progress is made.

As a reminder, just a few weeks ago, it looked like this:

And the inside looked like this:

We had some trim and some doors, but nothing was finished.

But y'all, in the last few weeks they have been cruising along.  They painted - walls, trim, doors.  They installed counter tops.  They finished the brick.

And then this week - they did more!

Plumbing is in!  All sinks, toilets, faucets, and showers.  And they look great.

Ceiling fans are in.  The fireplace has its mantel.

All the light fixtures are in as well as all the outlets and switches and doorstops!  And door handles!

You guys.  I am swooning over our kitchen.  I am so glad we went with the upgraded backsplash.  The standard would have been a basic tile and I really wanted something else.  This brick pattern was perfect.  I love it.

I have one quibble though:

For the life of me I cannot figure out why the pulls for the ceiling fans are a different color than the blades?  Why?  I don't get it and it looks terrible.  I've already been scouting online to look for replacements because those tan ones are definitely not staying.

Other than that one minor thing, we are so so please with how everything is turning out.  we should hopefully be on track to close toward the end of November!  Yay!!!

Life Lately

Hello Monday!  Did you all have a good weekend?  We had quiet weekend, not much going on.  The usual errands, date night, house chores, you know the drill.  Here's a peek into what we've been doing lately.

Let's start with a PSA - did you know that Sephora will package perfume samples for you?  I went in looking for a perfume for my wedding day and the woman offered to put together samples of the ones I was interested in trying.  This way I could try them on, wear them, and see how they reacted on my skin.  Such a great idea and a lot of help.  I tried Replica's Lipstick OnChanel's Gabrielle, Armani's Si, and Elizabeth and James' Amethyst.

Adventures in House Building

Y'all.  The progress on the house - I can't even describe it.  Don't forget, a few short weeks ago, we were here:

Friday Favorites - Kitchen Must Haves

Hooray for Friday!  Who is ready for the weekend #memememe

Tonight we are heading to Garland, Phillip's dad is in a production of Into the Woods and we're going to see the show.  Other than that, it looks to be a quiet weekend for us.  #trustmeimnotcomplaining

I was in the kitchen this week, making tea and thought to myself, I am so happy that we registered for our electric kettle.  The electric kettle is the only wedding gift that we have unboxed and opened.  Everything else is still in its box, rewrapped (we opened them to see who sent it and what it was so we could properly thank the senders), and ready to be moved to the new house in a few months.

But...I really wanted to open the electric kettle.  And Phillip wanted to as well.  So we did.  And I am so glad we did.  It is life changing.  It heats up fast to the designated temperature and there are several temperature options.  This got me thinking - what are the kitchen items I love and would hate to give up.

Can We Move in Tomorrow?

It's Wednesday Y'all, and I for one am looking forward to the weekend.  Not that we have a ton of things planned, but it will be nice to be off the clock for a bit.  We have a consultant here at work this week and I feel like I have been doing a lot of talking and meeting and explaining and now I'm tired.

But...I have fun house news.  Yay!

Life Lately

Hey y'all!  Happy Monday - hopefully your week is off to a good start.  We've been crazy busy around here the last couple of weeks, and add to that the blog redesign and it's been a little bit since we've done a life lately post.  There's just so much going on at work, with the wedding, and with the house, that we can hardly catch our breath sometimes.  Here's what we've been up to lately...

What's Up Wednesday

July is just about in the books and I am CRAVING Fall weather.  The Nordstrom Sale isn't helping my craving either.  I want all the pumpkin things!  We have hit the high heat of summer here in Texas and I am dreaming of cooler temps.  As we slide into August, it's time for What's Up Wednesday.  Here'sa look back at July and a peek into August.

What We're Eating This Week

With the wedding less than 100 days away we are trying to eat as healthy as possible and be consistent in our workouts.  Fingers crossed we can keep it up until October!
Monday - Veggie Burrito Bowls
Tuesday - Fish and Roasted Cauliflower
Wednesday - Grilled Chicken and Asparagus
Thursday - Soup
Friday - Turkey Burgers and Green Beans
Saturday - not sure yet, but something at home.  Saturday is usually date night, but we're limiting ourselves to once or twice a month now instead of every Saturday.
Sunday - not sure, but maybe one skillet jambalaya

Life Lately

Hello Monday!  I wish you weren't here yet, but let's soldier on, shall we?  It's my last week of summer hours and I am so glad.  I cannot wait to get back to my regular schedule and routine.  Last week was a busy one - I had some travel and we had new arrivals launch for Stella & Dot.  Here's a peek into last week...

I started the week by scheduling a pop-up event with my barre studio, Pure Barre Las Colinas.  If you are free Saturday morning, come by and try on the new Stella & Dot arrivals!  I'll be doing a giveaway too!

Our house, is a very, very fine house (so far)

Hello from Austin!  I am here for work the rest of this week.  This is my last big bit of travel until the wedding and I am looking forward to being close to home for the next few months.  Especially since they are making progress on the house and Phillip and I stop by pretty much every weekend.  Here's where the progress so far!

This is where we started back in February.  Woohoo!  We decided we were going to build.  We never imagined that's what we would be doing at that point, but we jumped in and haven't looked back.

Workin' It Wednesday - Weekend Life

Hello and Happy Wednesday!  Are we already at Wednesday?  These weeks are just flying by.  We are about 3.5 months away from the wedding and 5 months from moving into the house.  I can't even wrap my head around how quickly the weeks are just speeding by.
So here we are at Wednesday and it is a Workin' It Wednesday - this month's topic is weekend life.  Apart from the weekends where we might travel (maybe 4 weekends a year), our weekends fall into the same pattern.  We start with Friday Night.  Friday nights in our house are Turkey Burger Nights.  We'll rotate through Southwestern Burgers, Caprese Burgers (our personal fave), and Jalapeno Cheddar Burgers.  I generally go bunless.  Phillip opts for a sandwich thin.  A lot of people do Taco Tuesday, we do Turkey Burger Friday.

Saturday we usually start with a workout - 99% of the time it's a run.  In the summer, it's on the treadmill.  When it's not summer, we'll run outdoors.
